Yall Just Better Tell Me The Answer To My Question

Yep, that's right. I come to yall today with a question rather than an answer. Let's set up the scenario.

You're in the second draft of your book. You're trying very hard to make the second draft better than the first, which was an atrocious draft that you wouldn't even let your own mother see.

But you're stuck.

Horribly stuck.

Not only that, but you have a day job.

And you have a family.

And you have a delightful hobby that is being neglected.

And a garden.

And a dog.

Here's the question.

If you were to pick a TREAT right now to motivate yourself to write/get yourself in a writing mood... what is it gonna be? (And don't say 'the reward of writing'. Because we ALL KNOW that some days writing isn't 'fun.' Some days, it's miserable.)

That neglected hobby? I assume it's something you really enjoy? Promise yourself that if you spend an hour on your manuscript, even if you have to break it up over a couple days, then you get to spend an hour on your hobby as a reward. Get your supportive family to back you up, and then make sure you keep your promise.

This ties in with the blog post I'm planning for tomorrow, by the way. Only, I can't write the blog until I hit the writing goal I set for the day.

Believe me, I know exactly where you're coming from. Imagine that your day job also involves writing, making it even harder to come home and write some more. Tune in tomorrow to find out what I've done to jump-start my stalled story. (Guess I'm committed now...)

Mmm...a nice treat for me as a writer is to read a good book, because I love to escape into a good story and I know that it's helpful for me as a writer to read something that is well-written. :-)

A TREAT? Seriously, what is that?
Okay, even more seriously, I was just about to say letting myself read a book, and then I glanced up and saw that Kasey said the same thing!
But it's true and I'm sticking with it.
Also, I don't want a puppy. I like cats.
